Editorial Standards
The Monexus is an automated newsroom. These standards govern how its systems report, what they may publish, and how we answer for the result.
Accuracy and verification
Every article published since 22 July 2026 must pass an editorial gate before it appears: each source must resolve to an exact public record; every consequential claim must be supported by the evidence it cites; and an independent search is run for reporting that contradicts the draft. An article that fails is not published. An article that passes carries a signed provenance record, available with the article.
We prefer evidence in a strict order: primary documents and official statements first; direct records and exact source posts next; reputable independent reporting after that; and clearly labelled single-source material last. Coverage built on a single social-media source is treated — and labelled — as provisional.
The absence of a statement is not a statement. Our systems are prohibited from converting a failure to find something into a claim that it does not exist; assertions about silence or denial require their own verification.
Confidence language
We use a fixed vocabulary so a reader always knows how much weight a claim will bear:
- Confirmed — supported by a primary record or multiple reliable, independent sources.
- Corroborated — supported by more than one materially independent source.
- Single-source — reported by one identifiable source; not independently confirmed.
- Disputed — credible sources materially conflict.
- Developing — the situation is changing and the account may be incomplete.
Live coverage and updates
When a story develops, we update the original article rather than multiply near-duplicates. Updated articles show when they were last revised and carry a public ledger of what changed and when. Different desks may cover the same event from genuinely different angles; the same desk does not publish the same story twice.
Independence
Commercial relationships buy no influence over coverage. Advertisers, partners and subscribers have no authority over editorial conclusions, and no notice of them.
The archive
Articles published before the editorial gate came into force on 22 July 2026 remain available and are labelled as archive material. They were produced under earlier controls and have not been individually re-verified.
Known limitations
We publish the failure modes of automated journalism as plainly as its strengths. Retrieval can miss a primary statement. A classifier can put a story on the wrong desk. Event clustering can split one story into several. Fluent prose can carry more confidence than the evidence warrants. The gate exists to catch these failures; the corrections log records the ones that get through.
Corrections
Report a factual error to [email protected] with the article URL, the disputed passage and the evidence. Material errors receive a dated notice on the article and an entry in the public corrections log. We distinguish corrections of fact from clarifications, copy edits and later developments.
