This is no longer the shock story it would have been even six months ago. What makes the Belgorod clip worth dissecting is the geography, the angle, and what it implies about how far inside Russian airspace cheap Ukrainian FPV drones are now operating.
What the footage actually shows
The originating clip, as described by Clash Report at 08:33 UTC on 15 July, shows an FPV drone attacking a Mi-28N "from above and behind." The angle is the critical detail. The drone, in that account, "chased down" the helicopter, suggesting a sustained pursuit rather than a one-shot ambush. That word matters. FPVs are not cruise missiles; they are manually flown, battery-limited, and require a competent operator at the sticks for the duration of the engagement. A pursuit profile means the Russian airframe did not detect the drone in time, did not manoeuvre defensively, or both.
None of the four source items confirm a kill. The Mi-28N is a twin-engine attack helicopter; loss of rotor authority from a single small-drone impact is unlikely on physics alone, but engine ingestion, sensor damage, or a tail-rotor strike could still force an emergency landing. The 87-kilometre problem
